Berdasarkan data Globocan 2022, lebih dari 408.000 kasus baru kanker di Indonesia tiap tahunnya. Angka ini terus bertambah sehingga mendorong terus berkembangnya penelitian pengembangan terapi baru untuk pengobatan kanker. Selain operasi, radiasi, dan kemoterapi, kini berkembang imunoterapi sebagai salah satu alternatif pilihan pengobatan kanker. Jika kemoterapi bekerja langsung melawan sel kanker, imunoterapi bekerja dengan  merangsang atau memperkuat sistem kekebalan tubuh agar dapat mengenali dan menghancurkan sel kanker secara lebih efektif.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bagaimana Imunoterapi Bekerja?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Secara alami, sistem kekebalan tubuh dapat menghambat pertumbuhan sel kanker, namun sel kanker dapat mencegah proses penghancuran dengan melakukan \u201cpenyamaran\u201d. Hal ini membuat sel kekebalan tubuh sulit untuk mengenali sel kanker. Imunoterapi membantu sistem imun untuk mengenali sel kanker yang menyamar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jenis-Jenis Imunoterapi untuk Kanker<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

1. Checkpoint Inhibitors<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Merupakan obat yang menghambat fungsi \u201crem\u201d sel imun. Dengan menghambat checkpoint, sel imun dapat bekerja lebih kuat terhadap kanker. Salah satu contoh imunoterapi yang merupakan checkpoint inhibitor adalah serplulimab, pembrolizumab, atezolizumab, durvalumab, avelumab, tislelizumab dan lainnya<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Terapi Sel T CAR (Chimeric Antigen Receptor)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Sel T pasien dimodifikasi di laboratorium agar bisa mengenali partikel asing pada sel kanker secara spesifik. Sehingga dapat meningkatkan kemampuan natural sel T untuk melawan sel kanker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Antibodi Monoklonal<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Protein sintetis yang dirancang untuk menempel pada bagian tertentu sel kanker dan menandainya agar sistem imun bisa mengenalinya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Vaksin Terapeutik Kanker<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Berfungsi untuk melatih sistem imun mengenali dan menghancurkan sel kanker tertentu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Sitokin (Interleukin dan Interferon)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Protein alami yang digunakan untuk memperkuat respon imun terhadap kanker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jenis Kanker yang dapat ditangani dengan Imunoterapi<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Imunoterapi memberikan hasil yang lebih baik untuk mengatasi kanker pada stadium lanjut seperti kanker paru, kanker kulit atau melanoma, kanker kandung kemih, dan kanker ginjal.   Jenis kanker yang dapat ditangani oleh imunoterapi juga akan semakin bertambah seiring dengan makin banyaknya penelitian baru seputar imunoterapi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Efek Samping Imunoterapi<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sama seperti terapi kanker yang lain, imunoterapi juga memiliki efek samping. Efek samping yang timbul dapat diakibatkan karena sistem imun terlalu agresif sehingga tidak hanya melawan kanker, namun juga melawan sel sehat dalam tubuh. Tentunya efek samping sangat bervariasi dan sangat individual. Efek samping yang dialami mungkin bergantung dari kondisi awal, tipe kanker, stadium kanker yang dialami, jenis dan dosis dari imunoterapi yang didapatkan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meskipun merupakan salah satu pengobatan terkini, pasien yang menerima imunoterapi harus teredukasi terutama terkait efek samping yang dapat dialami sehingga pasien lebih tahu kapan perlu mencari bantuan untuk menangani efek samping tersebut. Hal ini juga dapat meningkatkan hasil dari pengobatan imunoterapi yang diberikan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
